Mansion by a Lake

This project is one of my favorites in my portfolio, because it was created during the discovery of my passion for architecture. When I first started this project it was not a mansion by a lake, it was a living room. I had seen an inspirational photo online and wanted to recreate it in my own style. But once I started I couldn’t stop. I never imagined how big the design would grow to be. I became obsessed with the vision that kept growing in my head and kept adding more details to the paper. I found myself ripping out other pages of my sketchbook and taping them to the first piece to be able to extend my creation. For days I spent every waking hour of my summer vacation perfecting my mansion. To me, the most impressive part of this design was that I had not been taught about architecture yet. At the time, I was unaware of all the design strategies that I have since learned, in this Mansion by a Lake, there were no structural or monetary boundaries. Instead, I taught myself by researching and asking for opinions. Every symbol in the design was created by me. This project encapsulates my passion for architecture because it conveys my desire to create beautiful spaces.
